About this speaker
Temi Adeniji is the Managing Director, Warner Music Africa / SVP, Special Projects at WMG. The portfolio of subsidiaries under her remit include Africori, one of the largest music distribution platforms in Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as Coleske, which boasts one of the best production houses in South Africa. In the past two years, she has steered Warner Music Africa's expansion into West and East Africa and has led a revamp of the Warner brand on the continent.
In her Special Projects role, Temi represents WMG on the investment committee of Influence Media Partners, a fund focused on acquiring modern evergreen music catalogs. Temi also serves as Vice President of the Board of the Warner Music Group / Blavatnik Family Foundation Social Justice Fund, which is endowed with $100M to further the advancement of underrepresented (principally black) populations around the globe.
Outside of work, Temi serves on a few boards. She is a Trustee on the board of The Africa Center (New York), a nonprofit, nonpartisan, multidisciplinary institution that provides a gateway for engagement with contemporary Africa and a board member of Rele Arts Foundation, the non-profit initiative for Rele Gallery that aims to engage and drive both the practice and reception of contemporary art in Nigeria. On the for-profit side, she recently joined the board of Afripods (a podcast hosting platform building the largest library of African audio stories, based in Nairobi, Kenya) in June 2023.
Prior to her appointment as MD of Warner Music Africa, Adeniji worked with other senior leaders to develop the overall strategy of WMG’s international business, including corporate development and M&A. She played a key role in WMG’s recorded music acquisitions, specifically supporting efforts to ramp up WMG’s activities in key emerging markets (India, Sub-Saharan Africa, and MENA).
Before WMG, Temi was an associate in the Debt Finance Group at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, representing private equity funds and their portfolio companies in connection with refinancing, syndicated loan, acquisition and leveraged financing transactions as well as asset-based credit facilities.
Temi holds an AB from Princeton University, a JD from Columbia Law School and an LLM from University College London.
