About this speaker
An award winning not for profit organization created to help support and create an equal, diverse, safe and healthy Jazz Industry. A team of writers, photographers, painters, musicians, presenters, journalists, producers, editors and based across the world. We explore a variety of initiatives to ensure everyone has a voice. We look for platforms and where no platforms exist, we create ones to ensure everyone can be represented. We publish three magazines a year, have a readership of nearly 50,000. We support and search for new female writers and offer support through our mentoring scheme. Working with our partners we explore the diversity of their content and offer support to increase representation where needed. We run podcast series exploring challenges and inspirations, promotion of new work and discuss what actions we can all take to support and encourage a more diverse Jazz industry. Through our social media platforms, publications, events and partners we have given platforms to more than 15,000 women. Provided a platform for female authors across the world through our "On The Bookcase" features, showcasing 105 books written by women. Monthly playlists (40 so far) platforming 585 female instrumentalists, vocalists and composers from around the world. New releases, legacy artists, new and established artists and we have hosted nearly 60 events at venues. We also facilitated the inclusion of the first two female photographers in the National jazz Archive.
